Position Summary:  Employee is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programming to promote English Language student learning and supporting teacher effectiveness using the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model as a framework with school level teams and across the district. 

 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties: 

  • Collaborate with the building MTSS Coach to develop and implement infrastructure to support collaborative planning and problem solving.
  • Facilitate collaborative planning and inquiry cycles with school-based teams.
  • Leads the design, implementation and evaluation of the EL/Multi-Tiered System of Support district rollout with Director of Teaching and Learning and Director of EL Programs.
  • Develop and facilitate EL/MTSS professional development for school-based leadership teams and other stakeholders.
  • Support school communities in the implementation of evidence-based practices and programs to improve learning and performance of ELL students.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate the implementation of academic and behavioral common assessments at the elementary school level.
  • Utilize data to inform instructional planning and monitor the effectiveness of English Language Learning instruction at the core, supplemental, and intensive instruction/intervention levels.
  • Provide technical assistance to school sites to develop plans to monitor and evaluate the fidelity of core, supplemental, and intensive instruction and supports.
  • Participate in the Student-Support Team process in collaboration with building counselor and principal to provide instructional interventions and support for ELL students at the elementary level.
  • Support the implementation of a documentation system to ensure sufficiency of supplemental (targeted) and intensive interventions.
  • Support, coordinate, and facilitate learning for EL students at the elementary level.
  • Provide guidance to EL/MTSS Assistants.
  • Support the ELL Director with yearly grant compliance reporting.
  • Works as a resource for building leadership (i.e. provide reports, research-based data for informed decision-making, status reports) to ensure the process continues moving forward.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

 Certificates/Licenses/Endorsements: 

  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with an Elementary Education or Secondary ELA, Math, Science or Social Studies endorsement.
  • English Language Learner Endorsement or proof of enrollment in a Washington State approved ELL Program.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports for English Language Learners
  • Problem solving, collaborative planning, and data-based decision-making skills at the elementary level for English Language Learners
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and integrate technology to provide professional development
  • Possess strong interpersonal, consultation, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to reflect and apply knowledge from current research on best EL practices for improving student achievement
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with educators from various disciplines and skill
  • Demonstrate command of leadership skills in formal and informal settings
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner
  • Ability to learn and use learning and data management systems, such as Canvas, Homeroom, and Skyward.
  • Possesses good listening skills; is able to express thoughts clearly in verbal and written communications.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Has good organizational skills; meets timelines appropriately.
  • Interacts positively with students, families, staff, community and administration.
  • Remains objective, fair, and open-minded.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities, such as college course work, professional associations, workshops and in-services.
  • Develop reports to show EL/MTSS progress at regular intervals.

SALARY:       2020-21 District Teacher Salary Schedule. 2021-22 Salary Schedule TBD
